Our Exclusive Daily Journeys are affordable and pleasant excursions of the finest and most requested destinations in the Naples Bay area.
This is a Sharing Tour, which means you will be a part of a group who purchased the same tour on the same day as yours and therefore will be subject to change depending on the number of participants.
This special itinerary offers different experiences of nature, art, history and taste, escorted by our tour guide.
The excursion begins with our Tour Guide and Driver, moving toward the highway known as the “Highway of Sunshine,” as we head to the east side of the town of Naples. From here, Mount Vesuvius' tall standing figure seems to be just a hand stretch away and as we move closer, it appears as if you could touch it, embrace it; it stands in front of you and slowly becomes reality. Seated at its slopes are the 18 small towns of the Vesuvius area considered the red zone because of the very high possibility of one more eruption of Mount Vesuvius and of course the area of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Thanks to the volcanic nature of this area, it is rich in agricultural products, producing an exceptional kind of tomato called “il Pomodorino del Piennolo”; a type of apricot called “la susina pazza di Somma”; and also “l'uva catalanesca,” a type of grape; and its famous typical DOC wine, "Lacryma Christi".
Vesuvius is the only active volcano in continental Europe and is also the symbol of the city of Naples. The perfect shape of Vesuvius closes one of the most glorious bays of the world, “the Gulf of Naples!” A top star when it comes to some of the most famous Italian landscapes. Arriving at the ticket office you will begin the journey on foot to the highest point of Mount Vesuvius, "the central cone," to see the inside of one of the most impressive forces of nature.
Next, we drive to Herculaneum. Most of us know that the Vesuvius, in its eruption in 79 A.D., buried the city of Pompeii, but it was not the only city affected. The eruption of Mount Vesuvius also swept the elegant Roman city of Herculaneum and other sites away. The city was covered by flows of pyroclastic rock that solidified to an average height of approximately 16 meters. Like Pompeii, Herculaneum’s excavations are also extremely interesting for the information they give about art, customs and the way of life of the ancient Romans; carbonized wood and furniture have been preserved, sculptures, paintings, vases and other precious objects excavated, of which some are now at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. The visit of the ruins has a duration of about two hours. Completed the visit we will return to Naples.
